The Price of Going to Fashion Week in Milan

Unless you are Anna Wintour or a famous celebrity, front row seats to Fashion Week certainly do not come cheap. Prepare to dig deep into your bank account, because the chance to be seated among the glamorous in-crowd to watch the likes of Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Prada and Miu Miu can be yours….all for the meager pricetag of $25,000.

That’s right. As part of Watermill Center’s Summer Auction, two Fashion Week packages are available for purchase online. Proceeds will help fund the Watermill Center’s Hamptons gallery, where artists exhibit their works for free. Investing in these coveted packages will provide you with two front-row tickets to the Fendi, Prada and Giorgio Armani shows, as well as two-front row tickets to the Miu Miu show in Paris. If you are feeling thrifty, the starting bid for the latter is $10,000.

Perhaps you might feel less inclined to compete for these tickets. If so, fret not, because the “buy it now” option allows you to buy these packages for $95,000 and $25,000 respectively. That is not to say that big spenders won’t hesitate to shell out a pretty penny in exchange for an exclusive view of the runway.

Has the realm of fashion reached its pinnacle of extravagance? You decide.

Some alluring samples from Tadashi Shoji’s Pre-Fall Collection.

Tadashi Shoji made some wonderful statements yesterday with his Fall/Winter 2014 Collection to kick off the first evening of  Mercedez Benz New York Fashion Week, 2014.

Showing styles that are both elegant and chic, the collection boasts powerul, but classic looks that turned heads with a varied palette range of vibrant reds, royal blues and purples, emerald greens, and soft neutrals.

Shoji describes the theme of the collection as, “Moorish Palaces by Moonlight” which is evident through his ornate use of lace, velvet, and chiffon whisking down the runway in elegant floor-length gowns.  The hair stylist chose a Victorian-esque side-part for most of the models to highlight that nearly all of the models sported rounded gold teardrop shaped earrings.  A smart way to draw the viewers eyes down the length of each dress.

Each model portrayed fantastic characters of aristocracy with bold attitudes which Shoji himself exemplified as he walked the show with a flaming red pair of pants! The ending was only suitable for such a magnificent show.
